Electrode clamps are critical components in submerged arc furnace (or Electric Arc Furnace) electrode systems, responsible for gripping electrodes, conducting current, and ensuring stable operation under high-temperature, high-current conditions.

Functions of electrode clamps

1.Electrode Gripping: Securely clamps graphite or self-baking electrodes via mechanical force (hydraulic or spring mechanisms) to prevent slippage or detachment.

2.Current Conduction: Transfers high current (10-100 kA) from flexible busbars to electrodes, generating arcs or resistive heat for smelting.

3.Thermal Management: Dissipates heat via water or air cooling (cooling water flow typically >3 m³/h) to prevent deformation or ablation (surface temperatures can reach 200-400°C).

4.Position Adjustment: Coordinates with electrode lifting systems for arc stability control and electrode length compensation.
